‘Nano Genesis’ is an interdisciplinary, research-based architecture and design firm established in 2008. Founded on the belief that design has the power to transform lives and enhance communities, we collaborate with clients to create healthy, sustainable places in which to live, learn, work, play, and heal. Nano Genesis concerns itself with relevant design, architectural economy and spatial technology as associated with specific context. Nano Genesis in principle, the architecture for comfortable environments are its focus and in application: planning, project identity and building design and also the space which might neither be called landscape nor architecture but sits somewhere in between are its concerns and passions. With each work it undertakes, big or small, it’s less fascinated by what makes things different and more concerned with what all things share. Nano Genesis refers less to the sizes of things than to the intimate relationships which bind them.

Our immediate environment may be a space that we subconsciously create and inhabit. We are able to make this space very familiar, or we will expose ourselves to unfamiliar elements that provoke our response and re-evaluation. There are many sources of inspiration: one only must observe closely. It’s possible to have set ideas of what architecture should be, but first we want to grasp to understand why things are a specific way.

Nano Genesis is about the possibility of context. We try and shares an environment created from an iterative process, where ideas are explored through the sketches, drawings, production of large-scale mock-ups, models, material studies and so on. Here projects are developed through careful consideration of place and a practice that draws from traditional techniques, local skills, materials, and an ingenuity arising from limited resources. The essence of our work lies in the relationship between land and architecture, it requires coming to terms with the presence of the environment through the succession of seasons. Inspired by reality conditions, we observe the complexity of relationships within each project with none any assumption or prejudice. It’s less concerned about the theatrical than it’s about the dramatic. Our approach is to remain intuitive, and look for a space to initiate a conversation. It is through this exercise that the matter being closely observed naturally reveals itself.
